Paul S. Aijian, MD, has been a doctor of Internal Medicine in Santa Barbara since 1979. His practice is office-based-primary-care-medicine as well as skilled nursing home care. Dr. Aijian specializes in preventative health visits and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic illnesses. He sees patients 18 years and older.

Dr. Aijian graduated from the University of California Riverside and then from the University of Southern California School of Medicine. His internship was at the Los Angeles County University of Southern California Medical Center, and he did his residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California.

Dr. Aijian is president of the Santa Barbara Select Independent Physician Association and a member of the Christian Medical Dental Association.

When he is not in his office, Dr. Aijian stays busy on his ranch, taking care of animals, building pig pens and garden beds, making jam, sponsoring events, and trying to keep up with his large family and all their ideas!

J. Alex Murdoch, DO, is a primary care doctor with a focus on Family Medicine. He is a provider with the Santa Barbara Select Independent Physician Association and sees patients aged ten and up. He is also Medical Director at Mission Park, Santa Barbara’s premier rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility. 

Dr. Murdoch graduated from Brigham Young University and then from Midwestern University – Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. He did his Family Medicine Residency at Community Memorial Health Systems in Ventura. He trained in clinical family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics, urgent care, emergency medicine and osteopathy. 

Alex is a big proponent of incorporating good nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management into the care of all his patients.

Dr. Murdoch loves spending time with his family, including surfing at Rincon Beach with his dad and brothers. He enjoys playing guitar, growing vegetables, baking sourdough bread and studying languages. 

Doctors Aijian and Murdoch have a shared approach to medicine. Their values include early screening, making sure patients understand what their issues are, how to manage them and providing up to date scientific diagnosis and treatment of disease. They believe in lifestyle medicine and assisting people with programs to avoid illnesses before they begin as well as addressing the spiritual aspects of health and disease. 

Both doctors believe all human life is a gift from God and do not participate in medically supervised taking of life at any age.

Their office accepts a wide variety of insurance types including Medicare, CenCal, PPO’s and most HMO’s. Both doctors speak Spanish and Dr. Murdoch also speaks French and Finnish. They work with a caring and well-trained staff who welcome everyone with opened arms!
